September

Sun Sep 13, 2009, 8:30 AM
:orange: September.

Horizon rising up to meet the purple dawn
Dust demon screaming, bring an eagle to lead me on
For in my heart I carry such a heavy load
Here I am on Man's road, walking Man's road, walking Man's road

I'm hungry, weary, but I cannot lay me down
The rain comes, dreary, but there's no shelter I have found
It will be a long time till I find my abode
Here I am on Man's road, walking Man's road

Moon rising, disguising lonely streets in gay displays
The stars fade, the night shade falls and makes the world afraid
It waits in silence for the sky to explode
Here I am on Man's road, walking Man's road

My life is so incredibly hectic right now, and I barely have time to think about everything. My school schedule is loaded and includes AP classes, and it's just so hard when half the seniors around me have about three or four classes and are home by lunchtime. I keep telling myself it is SO worth it, and I'll be thanking myself for this before long. If a senior slacks off senior year, colleges are not pleased. (I'm also hoping to go into college with several credits accumulated from AP exams.)

I haven't had time for much. I've realized there's no way I can keep updating my webnovel--though, that doesn't mean I'm not writing. Quite the contrary. It's just too much work to do the whole online thing. (Actually I just ordered a super awesome old-fashioned looking journal to write The Key in =D) I haven't really had time for personal art, either, or going on DA, or sleep. Definitely not a lot of sleep. Between school, cross country, and college planning, I'm booked.

Speaking of college...that may be one of the things stressing me out the most right now. I don't know where I want to go, or what I want to do. Not knowing what I want to do makes it hard to choose where to go, actually (so I'll probably end up at a bigger school simply for the options). I envy people who know exactly what they want to do.

My biggest problem right now is trying to decide whether or not I want to go into art. Any other major I could always switch, but with art I would have to know before going, because you have to get a portfolio reviewed, etc. I love art. It relaxes me, but I feel like I might begin to hate it when it became a job. I don't want to ruin it. And also, I consider myself a decent artist, but I feel like I lack the innovation you need to make it in the art world. Art is such a risky field, so you need to be really good so you're sure to land a job. My family is pretty against me going into art; they don't think it has enough security. Meanwhile, my teachers are all for it. Then, what do I want? I have no idea.

I know you can ALWAYS change your mind about what you want to do, and I try to keep reminding myself that. But I don't have all the money in the world to waste on classes from a major I left behind. As for other majors...I do think that, beyond art, even, creative writing is my true passion, or even stories in general. That's even riskier than art, though. I considered advertising for a while, but I don't think I'm meant to be in the business world. I've also considered neuroscience. The only problem with that is that you spend YEARS in school, so it's the kind of thing that if you do it, you're gonna do it. No going back or changing your mind.

Ugh. I barely have time to think about college or look at stuff, which makes this even harder. Right now, all I can do is do as much as I can with the time I have, and try to stay sane.

I'm going crazy...you coming?:bulletred:

Almost There.

Tue May 26, 2009, 7:54 PM
:orange: Summer's Just Around the Corner.

Yes. Tomorrow is the last day, then all we have left is finals. Time to get my life in order.

For starters, once it's summer I'm going to try and go through my overloaded DA inbox, and go through it regularly after that. Also, remember when I said I wanted to make pictures for people over spring break? Still planning on doing that. In fact, I started ~HellsGabriel's picture already.

Also, I NEED to get into the habit of updating The Key regularly this summer so it might be easier to squeeze it into my busy schedule next year. If I don't resume updates this Sunday, then it will be next Sunday. Good lord. MAKE ME DO IT.

There's loads of other things I wanna do. More will come when school is officially over. It'd be nice if I could carry out some of my plans this summer.

....HAPPY SUMMER EVERYONE.:bulletred:

Spring Break

Sat Mar 21, 2009, 5:45 AM
:orange: Spring Break, At Long Last

Between academics, track, and art, I have been so ridiculously busy the past few weeks that I may have lost a bit of my mind between then and now. (*cackles oddly*) I do have homework over break, but it merely consists of reading two books and finishing up an art project--in other words, YAY. I truly needed a break. Wow.

As always, still trying to sift through my overloaded message center here on DA.

I would really like a little art challenge. I want requests from people. I would also really like backgrounds to be involved--okay, I wouldn't love that, but I need that, to practice.

So, tell me what you want me to draw. Just for you. Sort of like a non-payed commission.

(p.s. I have had no time to write The Key!! -fail- I think it's clear that, at least for now, my schedule will not allow me to make weekly updates. I will have to update sporadically for now. Maybe pick up a twice a week this summer.)

(p.p.s. I update my sketch blog more often than my DA, so check there if you think I'm dead.):bulletred:

Change

Tue Jan 20, 2009, 3:04 PM
:orange: A Day for Change

Everyone living in the United States should be aware of what took place today, and even those who do not live here ought to know about it. Barack Obama was inaugurated this morning. Now, I'm not a screaming Obama fan, but I do like him, and I believe he will bring around a change that this country desperately needs. Also, let us stop calling him the first black president and concentrate on him as a man, concentrate and what he does, not what his race is. The next step in eliminating racism, after recognition, is moving past it.

This talk of change inspired me today, I admit. I came home late-morning, grumbling about a final that I did not-so-well on, in time to catch Obama's speech. I have been thinking about what's going on in this country all day. Can a change of government bring an ultimate solution? Do we not need a change in ourselves? I feel really inspired to try and better myself individually, to get involved in my community, and to fight for my beliefs. That may sound cheesy, but there was once a day and age in this country when cheesy was the norm; you've all seen those outdated videos in school, so you know what I'm talking about. I just really think that we, the unrecognized masses, need to pursue change as well. We can shout and cheer all we want for Obama (even if you don't like him, this still applies to you) but when it comes down to it, he is still just one man. He may be our president now, but we are the people. Government aside, if we make an effort as American citizens, laws and policies aside, if we can overcome greed and selfishness, laziness and hate, then we can bring about change.

...(I shouldn't listen to so many speeches.):bulletred:

The Fuzzy Sock (updatedx2)

Sun Dec 28, 2008, 8:21 AM
:orange: The Fuzzy Sock

Edit #2: Sorry for all the updates on this journal, but I forgot to say something else; if you are at all interested, please join the mailing list! And also create an account on the forum. Kthanksbye.

:star::star::star::star::star::star:Edit: [link] <--- TFS SITE:star::star::star::star::star::star:

At long last, ~Cmac104 and I have set a date for the release of our two stories, The Key and Red Butterflies. Our first updates will be on New Years Eve!! The site still has some kinks to be worked out, so I won't release the link just yet...but it will definitely be soon...probably in a week or less. At that time I will edit this journal.

Now, I need some feedback. For those of you who actually read my journals, I would really appreciate it if you would comment, saying whether or not you're actually interested in TFS. (For those who don't know, it is a site ~Cmac104 and I share, on which we will have weekly installments of our own separate novels. Like a webcomic, only they're webnovels.) Please be honest...and if you are interested, Courtney and I would really, really, appreciate it if, when we release the link, you could help advertise! We'd love to get this thing off the ground quickly--besides, the more people involved, the more inclined we are to keep it going. =P
